J.P. MORGAN OFFICES IN GREECE BOMBED; China and Japan Jump Ship

Off to Minneapolis -- New Song Up at New White Trash

Feb 16, 2009 -- I'm leaving early tomorrow for Minneapolis and Q&As at four screenings of "Collapse". The high's supposed to be 28 degrees but I think I'm going to have a great time and meet a lot of new friends. I'll probably be offline till Saturday. We all need a break.

Needless to say, I'm still giggling at all the messages saying, "Wohoo!" Thank you all. -- It's time to kick some butt... together.

BTW -- There's a great new song up on the New White Trash site featuring our beloved Cara Tompkins... "Lulu Lemons". http://www.newwhitetrash.com.

OK, where's the whiskey and bad women!

Feb. 16, 2010 -- And so it begins. That there will eventually be more bombings, that they will be deadly and that they will happen in the U.S. is inevitable. Recently the IMF warned of massive civil unrest on a global scale if another round of bailouts was attempted. We covered it here on the blog. This is truly just the beginning. I don't advocate it at all, but historically bombings are a fact of life in periods like this. I grew up in the 60s and 70s. There were many bombs detonated in the U.S.; some by activists and revolutionaries, others by government agencies and agents provocateur seeking to discredit those seeking justice through peaceful means. As Mao Tse Tung said, "Revolution is not a dinner party." -- I'm sure that Thomas Jefferson and all the Founding Fathers would agree.

Tea Party Lights Fuse for Rebellion on Right
They say a radical is a conservative who's gotten arrested. These days, "laid off" or "foreclosed" will do just as well.

The Tea Party movement is Paddy Chayevsky's immortal scene in the movie Network projected onto the national screen; the one where everyone starts shouting out the window, "I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore!" It also evokes the early days of 9/11 Truth which was a ragtag militia of well-meaning, patriotic and even heroic souls finding their way among the misguided or psychotic. Ron Paul figures large but so do some other less reliable but all too familiar characters. (Read the article and figure out who's being referred to, dear reader.) They have even resurrected the phrase, "big tent."

The burgeoning doubts about the Federal Reserve are a good sign but when they're coupled with questions about Obama's citizenship, one is left with the queasy feeling that there's major disinfo going on here, like those websites that smear legitimate questions about 9/11 by juxtaposing them with doubts about the Holocaust. - Jenna Orkin

Quote of the Day:

73 percent of Republicans rated our growing budget deficits and national debt as a very big threat, along with 72 percent of independents and 58 percent of Democrats. About 90 percent wanted Washington to take action to address these issues. Somewhat surprisingly, the respondents rated this issue as being more important than health care reform and middle- class tax cuts. Americans also saw escalating deficits and debt as a danger more serious than global warming and our declines in education and manufacturing. In our poll, public concern about our economic future even trumped fears of a rogue nation developing a nuclear weapon. That's what I call concern!

Yes, public opinion can shift quickly as the wind changes. If terrorists attacked us again on our home soil, the poll numbers would change.

Jenna, the tea party is a group of premeditated murderers looking to pounce on disaster. Waiting to reclaim the 7 mountains.

Did you miss the youtube of Sarah Palin getting blessed against witch craft at one of their churches?

The tea party is nothing more than the far right extreme element of our society. Our own Jihadist. I fear them more than anything

Hi folks, Mr. Ruppert, been following you since 2004. I was the suspicious looking asian guy at the 2005 conference in NYC... or maybe everyone stared at me funny cause I was the only one there... Anyway, I can shed some insight regarding that article about how the trillions of degrees were contained. It's called super strong magnetic bottles, basically a powerful magnetic field that can adjust and control the plasma flow. Plusses of this method is, no moving parts, no contact with solid surfaces! Minuses are you need loads of juice to have that happen.

By the way, would you folks like some contributions of good news? I love your site, but I think a nice news bit everynow and then would, you know, show a silver lining?

The news media is painting the bombing as a left wing plot.

I guess we should assume that only liberals get mad when they are lied to and robbed? No one else holds a grudge?

It seems to me that there may be millions of viable suspects. Even the government of Greece and it 's law enforcement branches should be eyed with suspicion. After all, they have the means, motive and opportunity.

Greece Starts to Outlaw Cash

"From 1. Jan. 2011, every transaction above 1,500 euros between natural persons and businesses, or between businesses, will not be considered legal if it is done in cash. Transactions will have to be done through debit or credit cards"

coming to a currency near us soon?

EU biofuels significantly harming food production in developing countries

"Biofuels are driving a global human tragedy. Local food prices have already risen massively. As biofuel production gains pace, this can only accelerate,"

"The report attributes the massive growth in biofuel production to generous subsidies. It estimates that the EU biofuel industry has already received €4.4bn (£3.82bn) in incentives, subsidies and tax relief and that this could triple to over €13.7bn if the EU meets its 2020 target."

A catchy new advertising hook for biofuel......Dying to drive?

ecosutra, the Tea party movement was originally a grass roots movement of revolution unconnected to any party. Its now unfortunately been infiltrated by Sarah Palin who has now saying they have to "pick a party"

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/02/17/politics/main6215033.shtml?tag=stack

You have to admire the way TPTB work in infiltrating these movements and bringing them all back to the useless right/left paradigm. People fall for it every time. Its just sad to watch.

The Tea Partiers seem to be divided into two factions: one faction is the socially conservative libertarians who feel a lot of affinity with the Patriot/ militia movement. We'll call these the "Ron Paul" Tea Partiers. The other faction are the reactionary neo-cons who mostly populated the recent TP convention and are pretty much hot-tubbing in liberal-hating Movement Conservative Kool-Aid. We'll call those the "Sarah Palin" tea-partiers. Don't be fooled by Glenn Beck's libertarian posturing. He wouldn't have kissed up to Sarah Palin as mawkishly as he did (I'll bet even Palin herself was a little creeped out by that) if he weren't really a neo-con.

Hey Mike,
I live in Minneapolis and have been following FTW and your blog for a few months now. I love your work and am intrigued your coming here.

Any information on where and when, and if tickets are available to attend your Q&A?

gamedog...Great links!

Wow, taking people's right to spend cash away from them in Greece. That's another approach that could definitely have an impact on the precious metals markets over time if it's adopted by other countries.

Good to see you last night in Minneapolis. I'm the one who is saving for an earth home. I'm a rural mail carrier in the suburb of Plymouth, which would be secure except my route is shrinking, currently at 36 hours. Here's a link to my blog. Lately I've been covering local issues, but you're in the archives... http://tomstream.blogspot.com/

Just ordered your book.
