Dear Project Unspeakable Community,
It’s a busy pre-performance week here, as we work with UMass Boston’s Center for African, Caribbean and Community Development to do the final arrangements for this Thursday’s staged reading of the 90-minute Readers Theater script. We’ll have music, visuals, and a really varied and fantastic cast of readers and artists involved. Discussion and reception will follow the reading.
Readers include: UMass Dean David Terkla, students (Christopher Simon, Fiona Phie, Kaia Walters, Joshua Nixon), and faculty (Carroy “Cuf” Ferguson, Barbara Lewis, Jorge Capetillo and Joe Ramsey), supported by local artists (Reginald Jackson, Pedro Alexander, Akili Jamal Haynes, Nina LaNegra) and community members (Chris Lydon — WBUR, Bill Singleton — President of United Neighborhoods of Lower Roxbury, Abby Rockefeller, Kwabena Nkromo, Maisha Moses — Algebra Project, and Amilcar Shabazz — Chair of Black Studies, UMass Amherst).
The performance is Thursday, Apr. 26, 4-7 pm at UMass Boston’s University Hall, Room 2310 (free shuttles are available from the JFK/UMass MBTA station and the UMass Bayside Parking Lot). |
