I spent about six months in the same unit as William Stanley back in 2014, when he was first awaiting charge for his actual crime. By 2017 he'd gotten out - and then was re-arrested for writing a blog post about his case. When the Bureau of Prisons had me re-arrested for giving an interview to Ben Makuch of Vice, Bill was my cellie for the four days I spent in the jail unit before the BOP was frightened by an expensive New York law firm into releasing me. During that time he showed me documents pertaining to his former employer, Generational Equity - the shockingly horrible Dallas firm that instigated both the original charge of "extortion" and the new "retaliation" charge hinging on the blog post. 

I just learned from this article that Bill hung himself afterwards. Generational Equity proceeded in a lawsuit against his daughter on the grounds that she'd provided him with "access to a computer and the Internet" when he wrote the post criticizing their firm. The prosecutor was Candina Heath - the same USDA who had me placed under a gag order for writing an article for The Guardian that she complained was "critical of the government".
