Next Financial Crisis Lurks Underground - NY Times
The New York Times sent a reporter to our Peak Oil Conference in 2005, the first to be held in New York City. But his purpose that day was not to write an article; rather, it was to inform his bosses of what our fringey group of wing nuts was saying. The Times has delighted in scoffing at the Peak Oil movement, as it did, in the early days, at the 9/11 environmental movement. In the latter case, they hav been proven irrefutably wrong and these days, like everyone else, report on the deaths which they themselves could have had a hand in preventing. Analogously, although I can't see the entire article linked here, they now seem to be acknowledging the limitations to the "shale miracle."

Next Financial Crisis Lurks Underground
"I read something a few years ago about how China wanted to move 200 or 300 million of its citizens to Africa....Eighty years from now, Lagos, Nigeria will be the largest city in the world. It’s on track to have a population of more than 90 million. The world’s second biggest city will be Kinshasa in the Congo with about 80 million people. Dar es Salaam of Tanzania will be the world’s third biggest city with a population of roughly 75 million people."
