ReplyDeleteJust finished CROSSING THE RUBICON after reading the SHELL GAME...OMG
In the spirit of cooperation here's my solution to peak oil

My Class starts where others leave off: For example, Michael Ruppert in CROSSING THE RUBICON states on page 594, “Distilled, all our pursuits essentially ask just two simple questions. Who are we really? And Why are we here? We have been looking in the wrong place for our answers.”
When I came back from Vietnam in 1971 I asked those same questions…but had to go to work right away…no money….But around 1977 I picked up THE BOOK OF MACROBIOTICS and found my answers. And after some study and some application, in about 15 years, I learned that our modern medical paradigm is trying to find a cure for disease in the wrong place…..it’s not outside ourselves with drugs, medications: chemotherapy or radiation….it’s within us.
So let me start by answering: Who are We Really.
Check out this class on jan 9th 2010

I got to see Collapse and I find it an absolutely fantastic film.
ReplyDeleteIt has hit the "unofficial" distribution channels so take heart in the fact that your message is being heard all over the world.
On the Iceland debacle; the Dutch minister of finance is acting very fierce on television. They try to be all angry with Iceland when the real scandal is the public money our provinces had parked over there.

RanD,
ReplyDeleteYou have to remember that you/we are reaching "The Other", who, although well educated, has a different concept of "American" English,
which in itself has 5 regional dialects; it's a lot like an American who speaks good North American Mexican going to Spain and trying to communicate, F.Kamilov is not the only person you are "enlightening" (small e), I found this in my grand daughters school newsletter but it also works here:
"And please please please reserve jargon only for those instances when jargon is actually appropriate. I've read hundreds of science fair project reports (and at least as many professional research papers) in which the writers believed they could hide their ignorance or poor technique behind a smoke screen of obtuse language. Being difficult to understand doesn't make your writing sound deep any more than smoking makes you look like an adult. Believe me, science fair judges know all the tricks, and we can spot smoke signals miles away. Verbal puffery is a sure sign of a report that doesn't got da goods! So use only clean, clear and direct language."
Our posts possibly look something like this to an "Other", Please; I also need to think more.

Bankruptcy 2.0
When I think of countries not just in 3rd world as: Dubai, Greece, etc. can and Romania, which now appears on the list of future bankruptcies, see that after the great American institutions bankruptcy is now fashionable among countries, as it seems and financial incentives package whether the IMF is that coming from Abu Dhabi or domestic.
This wave of bankruptcies and individual countries can bring only one întreupere the fluidity of the system, I wonder what follows. In Bankruptcy 3.0 that will add major international organizations, really? We'll see Bankrupt NATO, EU, NO, etc.? Who can know clearly is that it does not end here always ask pile top!
When you see Ben Bernake on the cover of Times as great genius you wonder if humanity has learned anything, these geniuses are good literature, because they are too brilliant I can not take criticism, however these measures and schemes that are not too public to look around the world. And if it would be well hidden in avocăţeşti tricks and bureaucratic hârţogăraie. And Hitler was once considered a genius, but history showed that he was one evil!
It seems that the world congratulates each of these financial incentives and their success without leaving time to judge! Personally I think that the bubble will burst next financial incentives!

ReplyDeleteToday you've changed my life.
I got to know you today.
I've seen your documentary "Collapse" today for the first time.
For the first time, it was so shocking I had to see it one more time. (denial)
For the second time, it was so fuckin' true I had to see it one more time. (anger)
For the third time, it made me think that maybe there still was hope for everything that the world is already suffering from, so I had to see it one more time. (bargaining)
For the fourth time, it made me think that one day all that I've worked for even in my short life at the age of 19, was for nothing, so I had to see it one more time. (depression)
For the last time, I said to myself "This is inevitable. Maybe I should even think about studying first aid or learning how to grow vegatables like the guy said. I'm not even sure that I'll live long and healthy enough to have kids, grandkids. So I should just keep my mind clear and prepare myself for the end." (acceptance)
Mr.Ruppert,
I'm just a 19 year old Turkish college student who had the hope of becoming a computer science expert, earning money in big, capitalist firms using it, living a happy family life, having grandkids and finally die. Now the only thing that I hope for is to have hope. Yesterday I wanted to "believe" in God or whatever you want to call the creating force of the life, today I just want to "understand" him.
I don't know if I am the 100th monkey or not. I just know that I am one of them and I'll do my best to show the other ones how to wash coconuts. And today this makes me happy because now that I've learnt what our function on earth is and what will become of us according to undeniable evolution of species, I can sleep at night knowing that there is an actual end to all of this.
I just wanted to thank you for changing my view of life, human beings and this filthy civilization of us. In this big sinking ship of us which we call "earth", all I want to learn from now on is how to make life boats, because someone has to.
Uygar.

Rice Farmer! Plenty of respect for your fine gleaning of many articles ... but ...
ReplyDeleteI went from reading about a new oil port in Siberia, directly to this:
'The Bible predicts that a major military clash will soon occur in the Middle East—specifically between a European power, led by Germany, and radical Islam, led by Iran.
'Daniel 11:40-45 indicate that Iran will continue to push at this European power until it finally responds in “whirlwind,” blitzkrieg-type fashion.'
Now, those of us who have the sense to look up
Daniel 11 (or
here) will see that this speculative Jewish text mentions neither Germany nor Siberia, nor of course Islam. Wikipedia opines, on no particular authority, that the book of Daniel represents events which had already occurred in the second century BCE, when the book was written or revised, long after a historical Daniel had lived. Whatever.
The tortured, overpopulated world is particularly sensitive to apocalyptic visions these days, and although I recognize the need to reduce human population it strikes me as a disservice to those already nervous, to propound this kind of nonsense.
I guess we're all big boys and girls and can look out for ourselves, but I'm wondering if there isn't a better source of oil information than The Trumpet.

ReplyDeleteI just watched Collapse, and it is the most terrifying horror movie ever made. It should be a requirement for every American to see this movie.
ReplyDeleteToday its 85,000 jobs lost and $3.00 a gallon gas soon: funny how reality keeps intruding on all the happy talk about the impending "recovery" of the US economy. No one can ever quite explain how this recovery is supposed to take place but the empty headed US infotainment industry just accept it on faith and blurt it out to a desperate and vulnerable American people.
ReplyDeleteNothing is made in the United States anymore! Nothing that is except weapons of war. War making is the only "healthy" sector of the US economy left, which is why were staying in Iraq, escalating in Afghanistan, and expanding the fight to Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia. But a healthy capacity to drop bombs on people around the world will not rescue this broken economy.
Why? Because the capitalist economic system is exhausted and will soon collapse. From the time of the collapse of feudalism and its birth in the Industrial Revolution, capitalism was always destined to become the dominant global economic force. Globalization will be a historic marker as the zenith of its existence. But globalization robbed the system of the only thing that kept its fatal internal contradictions at bay—-growth. Capitalism has conquered the planet, it has nowhere else to feed. The time of its death is now at hand.
Skirmishes and crisis around the world, are signs the two most powerful groups that capitalism creates are beginning to engage in a final battle for power. Marx called them the bourgeoisie, the ruling class, and the proletariat, the working class. It can be most simply described as the clash between the wealthy and the working people.
The fight is inevitable and it will destroy one class or the other. Then on the ruins of the old system, the class that prevails will reorganize society along the lines of their dictates. If the bourgeoisie remains on top it will not mean the restoration of capitalism to health and stability. It will mean the depopulation of the planet and the enslavement of man in a world described in the dystopian literature of Orwell, Huxley, and Atwood.
Agape Wins,
ReplyDeleteWe are all given to express & understand what we must in the ways that we must. And if any one of us cannot understand what "The Other" expresses, then that is the way it is meant to be, no differently than it is regarding what "The Other" cannot understand.
RanD will say no more on this subject, and is perfectly comfortable in knowing that you will or will not understand what RanD has just said.

I have followed the Peak Oil debate for about 9 to 10 years now and have seen this problem been overshadowed by climatechange, conspiracies and other worries in the world. I do not believe global warming is real but thats beyond the point because it would be a minor problem compared to the comming energy and water crisis. At the same time it gets alot of attention and world summits. I try to tell the energy story to green people but they are ironicly enought siding with the economists in future policy debate and the economists can promise alot but will let down many people. I heard a finance podcast the other day and one economist managed to say that if we invested one trillion in solar/wind and one in nanotechnology then oil would be obsolete in ten years! I was stunned by this since it was a obviously an economist going for the green agenda, but worse, I am convinced this is the concensus within the green community sadly enough. But the economists fail so misserably at the first basic question. Is that physically possible? I think the economists have created so many bubbles they can't see reality anymore and they are basically the green movements advisors.
ReplyDeleteAnd thats not clearer than in the green bill the US senate will vote on, a bill that will severly hurt US coal electricity operations and leave millions of americans poor. In the imminent crisis of climate change it's logical but for the more level headed ones it's throwing oneself in the water from a boat convinced swimming is within reach.
On a personal note I agree with Mr.Ruppert about saving the ones that can build lifeboats but I also think there are politicals battles we can win to better our future, and that is the points I will try to make.
First off. In Norway, where I live, they are giving millions to build windmills out in the north sea, also called the most corrosive enviroment in the world, but are at the same time denying drilling for oil in the northern parts for green reasons. Another stupid idea they had was to buy new fighter jets from the US instead of going to our brothers across the borders in sweden for their fine products because of small price issues. All politicians are aware about peak oil but it has no impact and if you throw in an population rallying for something thats not an issue, then democracys bad side appears because it's not driven by reason but by the ones that scream the highest. And we are not screaming.
The scariest thing is that there is a complete lack of understanding for how the world and it's physics work!
So why am I saying all this? I think we have enough documentaries and youtube videos already but we can't get through. And we also have an green community that touches on the same issues as the Peak Oil movement but goes in a totally different direction as far as development is conserned. Greens can't wait for oil to go away, we fear oil going away. And that has to shine through.
