With the arrival of Peak Oil, the curtain has closed on Act 1 of the drama Petroleum Man. What will happen in Act 2? Chekhov said, "If there's a gun on the wall at the beginning of the play, by the end it must go off." In the world's nuclear arsenal are many guns on the wall. If life copies art, will there be an Act 3 in which the players, having learned their lesson the hard way, live sustainably? To explore these and other questions... FTW's Act 2 Blog. Read, comment, take heart! Orkin

Oil v. Israel lobby -- Recently there has been a lot more open public discourse in the US about the Israel lobby, which is of course good, but an unbelievable corollary has emerged from the discussion: It is claimed in some quarters that the US attacked Iraq solely to do the bidding of Israel, and that it had nothing to do with oil! Looks like she was right. http://www.willthomas.net/Chemtrails/Articles/Chemtrails_In_US_Schools.htm
Also,I just finished watching a very interesting video on "Mercury,Autism, and the GLobal Vaccine Agenda" and thought I would post it here in case any fellow blog commenters may not have seen it yet.

Hot dog. A Japanese academic journal has just asked me to pen an article on peak oil. The same issue will have a peak oil article by a Japanese academic, too. The editor says they are taking this matter seriously.
Speaking of Richard Heinberg (mentioned in relation to an article on Japan in the previous item), a Japanese friend in the translation and publishing industry told me last year that there were plans to translate "The Party's Over" into Japanese. Have heard nothing about it since, though.
