The Father of the Terrorist

Jenna Orkin

The latest Christmas horror movie - sorry, "news item" - concerning yet another Islamic fundamentalist planning to attack the West on one of its holiest of holidays, is concocted of tried and true ingredients: A threat at the height of a travel season, thereby easing the oil squeeze; a familiar "explosive" in familiar negligible quantities, smuggled in a private crevice. And if the shoe bomber led to all of us having to pad through the last lap of the airport in our stockinged feet, what's the logical conclusion to the underwear bomber? I guess the naked scanner's a reasonable compromise, huh?

Then there are the back stories.

Like Osama Bin Laden in the years leading up to 9/11, prior to his alleged attempt at a Christmas massacre (nice East v. West touch there, if a little heavy-handed) Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab supposedly broke ranks with the rest of his family. The well-brought up Westernized Muslim turned into a Radical Fundamentalist, another family black sheep.

But unlike Osama, Umar is no mastermind; he's 23. In this (as well as in the muffed outcome of his alleged attempt) he harks back to John Hinckley Jr. of Reagan assassination-attempt fame.

The similarities of the three Threats to Our Way of Life do not end there for all their backgrounds reach into the highest echelons of the societies and even the administrations they sought to destroy.

The links of Osama's family to the Bushes are by now well known and won't be rehashed here.

But Hinckley, too, was no mere garden variety nutjob. Wikipedia quotes an AP article from March 31, 1981:

The family of the man charged with trying to assassinate President Reagan is acquainted with the family of Vice President George Bush and had made large contributions to his political campaign....Scott Hinckley, brother of John W. Hinckley Jr. who allegedly shot at Reagan, was to have dined tonight in Denver at the home of Neil Bush, one of the Vice President's sons...

Similarly, the father of Umar - who purportedly warned the CIA of his son's worrisome beliefs six weeks before they came to fruition in the alleged terrorist attempt - is not only the prominent banker that has been portrayed in the media; assuming that his name is not the Nigerian equivalent of "Bob Johnson," he has also held powerful positions in energy (both electricity and oil,) communications and defense.

"Dr. Umaru Abdul Mutallab has held senior management positions in the Defense Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DIC),... has also served as chairman of the National Electrical Power Authority (NEPA)... and is on the board... of the Nigerian Communication Commission.."

The Defense Industries Corporation of Nigeria has been involved mainly in manufacturing AK-47's not only for Nigeria but also for neighboring countries.

The New Nigeria Development Company of which Dr. Mutallab was General Manager, has a deal with Gazprom to analyze three oil blocks in the Northern part of the country (the Muslim part, where the rifles are being manufactured.)

The Nigerian Communication Commission saw its Vice Chairman arrested in May for illegally withdrawing a license.

The National Electric Power Authority or NEPA (otherwise known somewhat clumsily as "Never Expect Power Always") was the subject of one of those letters that used to arrive weekly in one's inbox asking for assistance and promising windfall rewards:

"My name is Camooru Ego and I am the manager of the Lagos Head-Quarters of the National Electric Power Authority (NEPA), a position I have held for four years now. As the manager of this Corporation one of my many duties involves making detailed investigations into the internal finances of all departments under my control, to ensure that the organisation runs effectively as a whole...

'During the course of these investigations I have discovered that the accounts of the Research subdivision do not balance correctly..."

But it is as a banker that Mutallab Sr. is mainly known, most recently as Chairman of the First Bank of Nigeria about which Wikipedia says:

"The Bank traces its history back to 1894 and the Bank of British West Africa...

According to its founder, without a bank, economies were reduced to using barter and a wide variety of mediums of exchange..." (Can't have that, can we?)

"The bank primarily financed foreign trade, but did little lending to indigenous Nigerians, who had little to offer as collateral for loans..."

After fixing all that, in 2008, the bank was rated by JP Morgan as one of the two 'least preferred" of Nigerian banks. And this was before it reported N74 billion bad loans in 2009. But what bank didn't?

Busy guy, Mutallub Sr. Maybe he should have spent more Sunday afternoons kicking around a soccer ball with Umar.

Nicely put together Jenna, the similarities are indeed uncanny!

Mahathir: US preparing for attack on Iran

The former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad has warned that the US is preparing to launch an attack on Iran with the help of Israel.

http://www.presstv.ir/detail.aspx?id=115061&sectionid=351020104

Leaders call Yemen terror summit

Mr Brown will host the talks in parallel with the conference on Afghanistan being held in London on January 28.

http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/87dab810-f707-11de-9fb5-00144feab49a.html

Does that give Iran until the end of Jan, I have to wonder.

Just about every technical annalist I respect is calling the top of this current stock market bull run, George Ure said "What could trigger this kind of decline? Oh, how about Iran being attacked by Israel? Market declines - especially precipitous ones like the pending P3 decline - always need and external triggering event. Something that can be looked at in retrospect and argued as the cause."

I can't fault the logic.

I have switched from "pure" Organic gardening onto a more productive (on EROEI terms) permaculture type system. I can highly recommend some books to invest in...

The Earthcare Manual - Patrick Whitefield

Forest Gardening - Robert Hart

How to make a Forest Garden - Patrick Whitefield

Plants for a Future - Ken Fern

I also have a copy of The RHS Propagating Plants - edited by Alan Toogood, which really explains what all species like, and how to propagate them, which has been really useful in terms of obtaining free plants from friends (cuttings/seeds and much more) it's really "too good" :¬D

Can I encourage everyone to plant a fruit tree this year! Suppliers usually stop sending out out bare root trees in March, but they should be planted earlier than that if possible, especially the stone fruits which should ideally be in the ground by the end of February. (UK/temperate zones)

No land? ask a neighbour, the local school, or council plot, why not in the middle of a traffic island :)

more of the same

Daddy Warbucks, whose banking ties are under threat of serious set-backs, goes to the State Department and then the CIA and all of a sudden his lonely, college drop-out, populist son, ends up getting on a flight and setting his nuts on fire and the good-old U.S. of A can now come running in to the rescue to save all those precious investments in Yemen that are directly tied to, you guessed it, the underwear bomber’s daddy.  A small world, ain’t it?

I hope that clears things up a little bit.

Either that or they just “hate us for our freedom”.  Take your pick.

In follow-up to what Jenna mentioned about the connection between the Bush family, the Hinckley family, and the assassination attempt on Ronald Reagan, read this article published by the Houston Post on the day after the assassination attempt. Less than 1% of Americans even know about this story, and this shows us so perfectly how stories we'd all want to know about get buried and never, ever make it into the national news for us. When you understand how easy it was for them to bury this story and never have it reported in the national news, you begin to understand how easy it also is for them to keep other news on stories like 9/11 from ever being reported in the national news also:

The Underwear Bomber - Crushing Freedom With Phony Arab Terrorism

quote

In Yemen today, the people that the US, British and Israeli governments claim are "Muslim terrorists", "al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula", 'al-Qaeda in Yemen" etc. etc. are in fact local tribesmen and their families who are clamoring for social justice and have been doing so for several decades. They would very probably be easily enticed to put down their arms if they were given economic help and simple concessions such as roads and schools by the government. But that is too much to ask of either the global power brokers or Yemen's puppet government. To give any power to the people is, in the twisted, greed-driven minds of the global elite, the first step on the road to the loss of control, and control over normal human beings and our planet is the lifeblood of our corrupt and psychologically deviant leaders.

A detailed analysis linking the Christmas “terrorist” plot to the history of the Yemen and social injustice there - as well as the obvious ambitions of TPTB to take control of a very strategic piece of the earth. Long but worth a read.

Evidence Mounts for US Complicity in Terrorism: Mutallab's father is no ordinary 'banker'

"We do know a couple of things. Dad, back in Nigeria, ran the national arms industry (DICON) in partnership with Israel, in particular, the Mossad. He was in daily contact with them. They run everything in Nigeria, from arms production to counter-terrorism. Though Islamic, Muttalab was a close associate of Israel."

Curiouser & curiouser!

Well done Jenna :-) This whole " bomb in the pants " thing stunk from the start. It accomplishes so much in terms of what TPTB seek, to keep the masses in their fearful state for one. Now more countles billions can flow into the Military Industrial Complex and Homeland Security and such because we just can't tolerate peoples shorts blowing up now can we! Never mind that this country is being systematically bled to death. Got to keep our priorities straight!

Gamedog, in reference to this possible attack on Iran thing. I hike in the remote desert mountains around our home ( in So Cal ) and in recent months there have been huge dark colored military ( four engine ) jets clearly doing training in our area. They are flying across the desert valleys and mountains just barely above the landscape, like you would do to evade radar/detection. Wonder if this has anything to do with what you speak of? Getting the skills honed perhaps for delivering a strike to Iran.

Man the MSM is just so much worthless crap these days with their constant flow of lies and BS. Thank goodness for the internet, while we have it available :-)

Acorn: It's always worth translating the USGS reports into reality - The oildrum.com

http://www.theoildrum.com/node/3868

"We can contrast "technically recoverable" to "economically recoverable," a term which can be taken as the amount of producible reserves that will give a reasonable return on capital invested....

If we could actually produce 3.6 billion barrels of undiscovered oil forecast at the P50 level by USGS, how much would this equate to? The US uses about 7.6 billion barrels of oil products a year, according to EIA data. This is equivalent to just under six month's US oil use, spread over a very long period, probably 20 years or more. If total production amounts to only 500 million barrels, as I have suggested, this would equate to about 23 days worth of United States oil usage, spread over many, many years."

23 days extra supply in return for contaminated (via hydraulic fracking) ground water (drinking water).

And The Lyndsey Williams book?

IMO Lindsey Williams has very little credibility. "Without exception, the only substantiation to his claims are based on his conversations with oil men in Alaska in the 1970s/80s, and support he has received from people after Williams started speaking of his conclusions. I have never heard him offer a single fact or observation that has been independently verified.

Williams is an ordained Baptist preacher, and you should hear how he promotes his books!

Williams comes off as an intellectual lightweight that offers flimsy hearsay-based arguments that can't be verified. You can find many articles about him and his views on the internet. But I highly recommend you search for actual audio interviews. You'll get a pretty strong impression of the guy. It may be that he really believes what he's preaching, and he may very well be a sincere man. But I don't think reality matches his stories."

Here's an old article explaining where the myth and legend of Alaska Oil comes from...

In addition to what Jenna says, it should be noted that Nigeria, after Pakistan, is a stinkingly corrupt country - although not as important in the Grand Design as the latter (even though it has strategic oil reserves); moreover it is not in the same state of social, economic and political decrepitude and collapse. (The Transparency International "rankings" explain all these details). But the coincidence of this latest "bomber" incident with the winds crisis now blowing all over the world is rather bizarre. And so is the tally of yet another African trying to kill the "Muhammad" cartoonist in Denmark, at this "late" point in time.
